Hello, my name is Rick Vidmar and I have had the privilege of working at Neighborhood
Christian School since 1982. I have enjoyed serving here both as a teacher and principal.
My wife, Kathy, and I were married in 1983 and we have been blessed with three children.
Ryan was born in 1986, Christina in 1989, and BethAnne in 1994. My wife, Kathy, was born
in...well, never mind. :-) I am very grateful to Neighborhood Christian for the solid
educational foundation that each of my three children received and how their lives have
been shaped through the wonderful teachers and staff.
I enjoy sports, the outdoors, and I like to read books. After the Bible, I enjoy
missionary adventure stories and biographies. History and geography are also very
interesting subjects to me. Over the years I have been blessed to be able to travel
overseas on short-term ministry trips. I have traveled to a number of countries,
including, China, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Belarus, Albania, Montenegro, and
Turkey. Both personally and as a school my prayer and desire for the nations is that
...the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the
waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14)
I have a great sense of satisfaction in seeing Neighborhood students receive a strong
education from a foundation and philosophy that gives purpose to life. Dr. J.P. Moreland,
Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology, in his excellent book, Love Your God
with All Your Mind, made this profound statement:
The purpose of life is to bring honor to God, to know, love, and obey Him, to become
like Him, and to live for His purposes in this world as I prepare to live in the next
one... A life that is intentionally lived for this purpose will be characterized by
certain attitudes and actions. For one thing, if I am to progress in this sort of life, I
must regularly live for the larger whole."
That statement truly sums up my desire for the children and families here at Neighborhood.
Developing good, solid students who have an understanding about God and the world He has
created for us is paramount. As each student learns to read, write, and think, they will
be prepared to live for higher purposes than themselvesthe larger whole in the
kingdom of God.
My feelings about the Lord: "Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I
desire besides you...God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
(Ps.73:25-26).
The words I would love to hear from the Lord when I pass from this earth..."Well
done, thou good and faithful servant..." (Matt. 25:21) |
