At Neighborhood on the Fairgrounds

Family and Friends,

We wanted to share with you the opportunity to bless Neighborhood
Christian School through a very fun and exciting event — Neighborhood

All Neighborhood students, in Preschool through 8th Grades, will be

2007 Neighborhood Olympics
Competition & Fun For All!
(see photos)

Close to 400 Neighborhood students, families, friends, and staff enjoyed a beautiful, sunshiny Saturday on October 6, 2007, in the 2nd Annual Neighborhood Olympics here on the school grounds. From registration, to opening ceremonies (with the parade around the competition field and the "Star Spangled Banner" by Kindergartner Jerzee), to fun and fierce competition, to crafts, a jump house, a treasure sand box, dunking the staff in the dunk tank, a yummy barbecue lunch, and finally the awards ceremony, this year's Olympics was a  great day of fun and fellowship for all!

We want to thank all of our sponsors, families,  and Neighborhood Builders for their generous donations, all of our local merchants and families who donated time, labor, and materials for the event, all of our staff and volunteers who did a great job from decorations to all the activities, and all of the students, family, and friends who attended and participated, making this year's Olympics a resounding success!

We look forward to next year's Olympics! Until then, please enjoy hundreds of snapshots of this year's Olympics!  (click here to see photos)

Athletes aged three to fourteen in preschool to eighth grades competed in four Olympic events at Neighborhood Christian School's fundraising "Neighborhood Olympics" on Saturday, October 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the school location on the Dixon Fairgrounds. Parents, family, and friends cheered on the student athletes as they competed in the softball throw, obstacle course, standing broad jump, and 60-yard dash events. Gold and Silver Olympic awards were given to the firs t and second place boys and girls in each event, within each group (grouped by grade le vels): Purple - Preschool, Blue - K and 1st, Red - 2nd and 3rd, Orange - 4th and 5th, and Green - 6th, 7th, and 8th. Additional gold medals were given to the overall champion in each event, within t he groups, as each 1st Place girl competed against each 1st Place boy.

"God really blessed us with a perfect, sunshiny day," exclaimed Olympics Director Chris Bushey. "From the Olympic events, to the jump house, the dunk tank, the craft table, face painting, and a scrumptious barbecue lunch, the 450 or so attending had a terrific time of fun, fellowship, and really helped to make this a tremendously successful fundraiser for Neighborhood! We couldn't have been more pleased!"

"We want to thank the many alumni, staff, and staff spouses for helping in all aspects of the Olympics," added Bushey. "Special thanks go to the Mistler family and Grand Rental for donating the jum p house, dunk tank, and a terrific balloon archway le ading to the event area, and to the Kemp family for the use of their large barbecue trailer."
