Olympics Parade
Star
Spangled Banner
Last year over 350 students, parents,
family, friends, and staff enjoyed a beautiful, sunshiny, fall day full
of competition, fun, food, and celebration, Saturday, October 9, 2010
on the school campus at the Dixon Fairgrounds.
The day began with registration at
9:00 am, some time to have fun in the jump house or get a face painted,
and then stretching and warm-up at 9:45 am. All competitors and staff
began the Olympics parade around the competition field.
It was a great
photo-op for parents and family as their competitor marched by the
grand stands. Finishing the parade, all saluted the Red, White, and
Blue as the Star Spangled Banner was sung by student Jerzee Bingaman.
Mr. Vidmar, Neighborhood's Principal, then opened the games with a
prayer.
Beginning close to 10:00am, four groups of students, K-1, 2-3, 4-5, and
6,7,8 competed in four events: softball throw, broad jump, obstacle
course, and 60 yard dash. A three-legged sack race, one adult and one
student, capped off the day's competition.
A tasty barbecue lunch, awards
ceremony, and the dunk tank (with staff members willing to get soaked
for some great fun) rounded out the day. It was a very successful and
fun-filled day for all!
